Broomfield City Council backs ‘Messiahville’ plan

The congregation behind a plan to build a Christian-themed amusement park took a step toward realizing its vision, although it is leaving its most ambitious goals behind -- at least for now.

The Broomfield City Council on Tuesday night backed Messiahville Baptist Church's plan to build a 35,000-square foot church and 16,800-square foot school on its property in north Broomfield.

The congregation approached Broomfield leaders in 2001 with plans to build the religious theme park, with full-size replicas of Noah's Ark and the Temple of Solomon. Broomfield denied zoning changes the church requested then. This time, the church's plans are not as ambitious. Read More
