Carroll: Buck didn't sabotage case

Is Tom Strickland poised to exact revenge? President Obama's assistant secretary of the Interior may not have been able to beat a Republican in two bids for a U.S. Senate seat, in 1996 and 2002, but he's suddenly in position to seriously undermine one now and without lifting a finger.

Strickland is the former U.S. attorney in Colorado who decided, in the wake of Columbine, to make his mark with a high-profile firearms prosecution — and never mind if the evidence was second- rate and that career prosecutors had already declined to proceed with the case.      More
