Facebook could help pick Colorado Springs next Mayor

Colorado Springs councilman Sean Paige is being encouraged to run for mayor in April 2011 through a recently created page on Facebook called “Recruit Sean Paige for Mayor.”

As of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, 36 people “like” the page.

Paige, who was appointed to fill a vacant council seat after former Councilman Jerry Heimlicher resigned, said it was “fun and flattering” that people would ask him to run.

“Yes, I would consider it,” he said. “I’m sure my candidacy would scare the hell out of the establishment in the city, but that’s not such a bad thing in my view.”

Paige said he’s going to wait and see who else decides to run.   – More –
