John Hickenlooper raised more than twice as much money in the month of June as his likely Republican opponent, Scott McInnis.
The campaign reports having raised $503,190 during the month, $350,000 of which was used to reserve future TV ad time. The campaign has now dedicated $1.2 million to buying ad time on television later this fall, and is holding $66,405 in cash on hand.
By buying advertising time in advance, the Hickenlooper campaign hopes to get more bang for its buck, a strategy that the Washington Post's The Fix blog says has the potential to backfire in the event that the campaign's fundraising dries up before November. – More -
