Newly sworn Lafayette City Councilman John Buechner said Wednesday he wants to be "one among equals" on the governing board, as the former head of the University of Colorado faced down criticism of the selection process that put him on the council. The council voted 4-2 late Tuesday that Buechner should replace former Councilman Kerry Bensman, who resigned earlier this month. Buechner was sworn in Wednesday.
But critics, including at least two of the dozen Lafayette residents who submitted their names for consideration for Bensman's seat, said they felt the selection process was rushed. – More -
