McInnis says Hickenlooper’s position on oil and gas regulations has "flip-flopped" in recent days

McInnis who wants to scrap the regulations, said Hickenlooper had previously joined him in believing the rules were excessive and that some "may not be necessary."

"He agreed until he switched sides this week," McInnis said, pointing to a Sunday column written by Hickenlooper in The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel that said rewriting the rules would be a "mistake."

Hickenlooper said he was not reversing his position or waffling.

"I never said I wanted to do a complete overhaul of the regulations," he said at a gubernatorial candidate forum hosted by the Colorado Oil and Gas Association. "To reopen them creates great uncertainty" for businesses.    More -
