Aurora legislator Karen Middleton is ending her re-election campaign for House District 42 to accept a position at a political organization, she announced Wednesday.
She will continue serving as state representative until her term ends in November, then she’ll be moving out of state to head a national political organization.
Details about where she is moving or what specific job she is accepting are confidential for the time being, she said.
Middleton says she hopes Aurora resident Rhonda Fields will be the next Democratic candidate for the district. Fields, whose son was murdered in June 2005, is the president of Voices of Victims, a nonprofit organization that supports victims of violent crimes.
Fields said Wednesday she is “seriously considering” entering the race, but has not made a final decision.
Sean Bradley, former aide to House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, has also expressed interest in the race. – More -
