Rep. Kathleen Curry, who left the Democratic Party earlier this year, has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court challenging the rules, saying they are out of line with the federal Constitution.
Candidates who stand in primaries — and by default every major party candidate does — can collect maximum contributions twice: once for the primary and once again for the general election.
But unaffiliated candidates never stand in a primary, and unchallenged third-party candidates like Tancredo don’t either, Curry said. – More -
