Denver Post's analysis of contributions to the 3rd, 4th and 7th Congressional District races

Analysis of contributions to the races for the 3rd, 4th and 7th Congressional District seats held by Democrats showed:

• The three races have drawn $7.9 million in donations through the middle of July. That's about 50 percent more than the races had raised at the same point two years ago. Democrats have raised almost twice as much money overall as their Republican challengers. The advantage among political action committees is more than 8-to-1.

• About one-fifth of the $2.3 million in PAC money to the three Democrats came from unions, and another 16 percent came from leadership PACs and other members of Congress.

Of the three races, the Cook Political Report has listed the 4th District seat held by Democrat Betsy Markey as a toss-up; the 3rd held by John Salazar as leaning Democratic; and the 7th held by Ed Perlmutter as likely Democratic.   More -
