Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and about two dozen volunteers are kicking off a door-to-door campaign for Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet.
Salazar came to his old campaign headquarters in Denver, where Democrats now are working the phones for Bennet, his successor.
Salazar told the volunteers Sunday not to despair because of the nation's anti-incumbent mood. He said he also was an underdog when he was elected to the Senate in 2004.
Bennet was appointed to replace Salazar in the U.S. Senate after Salazar was appointed to the Obama cabinet. Now, Bennet is seeking election for the first time. Bennet faces GOP candidate Ken Buck in November.
