Money, politics and voter cynicism

Most Americans understand several things regarding our political system today:

First, it takes wads of cash to run a successful election campaign today, much of which must come from groups with an interest in issues that will come before elected offiicials.

Second, most believe all that money has an influence on what politicians do, however much the politicians themselves deny it.

The combination of those two items naturally breeds voter cynicism about the political system.

The way to deal with these issues is to maintain transparency in campaign finance, coupled with solid news reporting.   - More -
