For political drama, it would be hard to improve on the Republican primary battles in Colorado this summer in which all of the major races are pitting well-known GOP conservatives against political newcomers who are riding the swell of angry conservative activists in the Tea Party movement.
"This summer is exactly what neither the Democratic or Republican parties ever really want — real primary battles between candidates with different views of their party's future, especially among Republicans," said Colorado College professor Bob Loevy, who has observed and written about national and Colorado politics since the 1960s. "Personally, I think Colorado voters are lucky because they are getting local versions of the national battle over the future of the Republican Party." - More -
