Teller County residents urged commissioners to be more aggressive in a case against Sheriff Kevin Dougherty during a meeting Monday.
Dougherty sold his home in Teller County and moved to El Paso County on June 24.
According to state law, an elected county official must be an ‘inhabitant’ of the county where he/she serves.
Residents said it’s clear that Dougherty no longer lives in Teller County and thus is not an inhabitant.
