Weld County GOP warns about supporting Tancredo for Governor

Karen Pelzer, the Chair of the Weld County Republican Party, sent an email to the county central committee members on Sunday, Aug. 22 warning them not to show any expressions of support for Tom Tancredo, who is running on the American Constitution Party ticket in the governor’s race. In the email Pelzer told the members, “I need to let you know that I have had several reports of inappropriate comments on Facebook pages belonging to members of the Executive Committee and members of the Central Committee, promoting the Constitution Party candidate for governor.”

She said that these comments were a violation of the organization’s bylaws saying, “Since these comments are in the public domain, they are not permitted in accordance with our bylaws.” She also warned members they were not permitted to give any public comments with their name attributed to it including letters to the editor, opinion pieces submitted for publication, responses to a reporter asking questions, posts on social sites such as Facebook and Twitter, blogs, calling in to a radio show or speaking at a public meeting.

Pelzer warned that committee members violating these restrictions and not supporting the candidates could be removed from their position.   More -

  1. The fact that the GOP has to go to this extream show how little support Maes really has.

As a republican, I find it offensive that I'm not supposed to express my opinion on facebook or any where else.

  2. Should GOP central committee members be allowed to express support for Hickenlooper? Maes is the Republican nominee.

  3. Maes is a joke. He ran a rinky dink credit bureau and thinks he can run an entire state. He can't even run a campaign. If they kick me out for supporting Tancredo, so be it. I should have left the party years ago. Tancredo is getting national endorsements and has raised almost the same amount in a couple weeks that Maes has raised in a year and a half. Now he's begging for $5 donations. The only reason Maes won was to send a message to the state party. They could have had Fred Flintstone run against McInnis and win.
