Attack ad targets American Constitution Party candidate Doug Aden… or does it?

A Democratic-affiliated group is running an ad that purports to be an attack on third-party congressional candidate Doug Aden.

But the content of the ad seems designed to promote Aden's candidacy with conservative voters who might cast ballots for him rather than Republican Party nominee Cory Gardner.

The ad says Aden and Tom Tancredo, the American Constitution Party nominee for governor, favor making English the official language of the United States. "Not only does this violate the rights of people who don't speak English, but it also threatens our country's tradition of cultural diversity," said the ad, paid for by a shadowy group called Our Community Votes.

Our Community Votes is a 501(c)4 group, which by law doesn't have to reveal its donors. A check of public records shows that it shares Washington, D.C., office space with other groups tied to Steve Rosenthal, a longtime labor movement and Democratic strategist and former political director of the AFL-CIO.    More -
