Betsy Markey cancels debate

Fighting hard to hold on to her seat in Congress, U.S. Rep. Betsy Markey's refusal to debate her Republican opponent without her two other minor party challengers present has led to the cancellation of a debate.

The debate, scheduled for Oct. 16, was to be sponsored by The Coloradoan newspaper and Denver's KUSA-TV.

On Wednesday, Bob Moore, the Coloradoan's editor, sent an email to all interested parties explaining that he was regretfully notifying Colorado State University, where the debate was to take place, that the event has been cancelled because Markey, as Moore puts it, "would not agree to our ground rules."  - More -
