DCCC won’t spend ad money on Betsy Markey

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee won't spend any money on TV ads in Colorado's 4th Congressional District this year, despite reserving $700,000 in air time earlier this summer.

The decision means that Rep. Betsy Markey, D-Fort Collins, won't have much outside help on the TV airwaves as she battles Republican Cory Gardner in one of the most-watched House races in the country.

“The DCCC regularly makes adjustments based on the level of outside group activity in the state," said Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, chairman of the Democrats' House election arm.

Gardner's spokeswoman, Rachel Boxer, said: "Rep. Markey's voting record is so out of step with the people of the 4th Congressional District that it's no wonder national Democrats have given up hope of retaining the seat."     - More -
