Poll shows Tipton leading Salazar in CD-3

An independent poll in the race for Congress shows Republican Scott Tipton with a slight lead over the Democratic incumbent, John Salazar.

The Hill 2010 Midterm Election Poll shows Tipton leading 47 percent to 43 percent, within the poll's margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percent. Eight percent of respondents were undecided.

"The poll confirms what the voters of the 3rd Congressional District have known for some time - John Salazar's votes for more spending, more debt and more job-killing government programs are entirely out of step with the hardworking families of Colorado," said Tipton's campaign manager, Sean Walsh.

Salazar's spokeswoman dismissed the importance of a single poll.

"While these polls come and go, John is on the ground talking to his voters, and he is confident that he will win. The only poll that matters to John is the one on election night," Trujillo said.     – More -
