A day after Denver Mayor Hickenlooper became Colorado Governor-elect Hickenlooper, the race for Denver’s next Mayor is off and running. Today, Denver Councilman Doug Linkhart officially launched his candidacy for mayor at a press conference held at Denver’s Curtis Park.
The Denver Clerk and Recorder's Office says that there are currently six people who have filed to run for mayor: Michael Forrester, Dwight Henson, James Mejia, Ken Simpson, Doug Linkhart, and Danny Lopez.
Other potential mayoral candidates include Denver Councilman Michael Hancock and state Sen. Chris Romer.
The mayoral election will be held on May 3rd and a runoff election would be held June 7 if needed.
