The last time Cory Gardner came to Washington, he was a pretty anonymous figure who lived in the spare bedroom of a friend's house.
Fresh off his Nov. 2 win over Democratic Rep. Betsy Markey in the 4th Congressional District race, Gardner returned with a bit of cachet: He's part of a historically large class of GOP freshmen.
These days, plenty of people seek his attention, including lawmakers seeking his political support for internal posts as well as job candidates hoping to join his staff.
"Oh, yeah," he said when asked whether he's been inundated with resumes.
But one thing might not change much: less-than-opulent sleeping arrangements. His family is staying in Colorado, so he's thinking of using his congressional office as temporary quarters while he figures out what to do after he's sworn into office Jan. 5.
"I told someone earlier they've made amazing advancements in air mattress technology," he said with a laugh during a break Thursday from a weeklong freshman orientation seminar. - More –
