Douglas Bruce: “The voters were bamboozled on 60 - 61 and 101”

Former state Rep. Douglas Bruce, a controversial figure in Colorado politics who was linked to three statewide ballot issues that went down in flames Tuesday, predicts similar citizen-driven initiatives will not resurface anytime soon.

“If the establishment, if the government can con people the way they did in this case, they can do it on anything,” Bruce said Friday in his first interview since the election.

“Somebody could have a measure to promote clean water, and they can say that would cost 73,000 jobs,” he said, referring to opponents’ claims that Amendments 60 and 61 and Proposition 101 would have put thousands of Colorado residents out of work.

“When people lie, the voters are rewarding the liars, so I don’t know why somebody would go to that trouble of having the entire wrath of our corrupt system,” he said.    More -
