Hickenlooper coasts to an easy win

Denver’s Mayor John Hickenlooper will be Colorado’s 42nd governor.

The quirky former brew pub owner didn’t have to wait long after the polls closed Tuesday night, to find out his political fate. By 8:00 PM the Associated Press had declared him the winner.

Hickenlooper’s win brought to an end the most bizarre gubernatorial campaign in Colorado’s history.

“I am humbled and honored by the decision Colorado’s voters have made, and I accept the challenge you have entrusted to me to lead our state as governor,” Hickenlooper said. “This is not the end of our journey. This is the beginning. And it starts with bringing people together.”
