Gov.-elect John Hickenlooper's transition team met in Colorado Springs on Saturday, to discuss the issues that are important to the state.
The group of 50 people who attended the meeting, offered their opinions and ideas on tax policy, support for small businesses, education, transportation funding and health care.
The transition teams have been holding meetings across the state to gather direct input from the citizens of Colorado. The information and ideas that are being collected will be reported to Governor-elect in December.
Hickenlooper, who briefly attended the meeting, explained that the information that his teams are receiving is an essential part of his overall plan.
“We have a real opportunity in all this turbulence to emerge as a state that does stuff differently,” Hickenlooper said.
One concern that was brought up during the meeting was from Colorado Springs City Councilman Tom Gallagher, who said that he wanted the new governor to concentrate on winning aerospace jobs that would otherwise end up in other states.
