Just hours after calling Democrat Michael Bennet to congratulate him on his win, Weld District Attorney Ken Buck said he's ready to turn away form the hard-fought Senate campaign and focus on his role as DA."I thought we had a good shot at this. Obviously I've spent 18 months working very hard to achieve a result and came up short so I'm disappointed," he said in a telephone interview. "I am going to go back to the office tomorrow. I'm going to put my head down and try to be the best DA in the state of Colorado."
Buck said despite the disappointment, he will remember the campaign fondly.
"I have so many good memories," he said "I've met so many interesting people. I've been to so many interesting people in Colorado. I wouldn't trade this for anything. It's a wonderful process, a grueling process, but a wonderful process."
Buck said he wouldn't rule out ever running again for a high-profile office, but right now he's focused on Weld.
"I'm going to use the contacts and the experience I've had running for office and try to enhance the DA's office and bring as much value to Weld County as I can as a result of having had this experience." - More -
