State Sen. Gail Schwartz may file complaint against 527 group

State Sen. Gail Schwartz and Colorado Ethics Watch are considering filing a complaint with the Secretary of State’s office against the 527 group Western Tradition Partnership.

By Colorado law, 527 groups are required to report any electioneering expenditures of $1,000 or more, made within 60 days to a general election.

Schwartz and Ethics Watch allege that Western Tradition Partnership failed to properly report a political mailer that was sent out in October.

The mailer in question had the image of Donald Trumps body with Sen. Schwartz’s face photo-shopped in with the message, “You’re Fired!” at the bottom.
