Tancredo on Tancredo

There was a moment on Election Day when Tom Tancredo really believed he was going to win the governor's race.

Conservative radio talk-show host Hugh Hewitt sent out a tweet notifying his followers that MSNBC's Chris Matthews predicted a Tancredo upset.

"I went to dinner at 6 o'clock and kept thinking 'This is really going to work,' " Tancredo said in an interview with The Denver Post on Thursday. "And of course it didn't. I'm content in the fact that it's part of God's plan. I just wish he wouldn't tease me so much."

Tancredo says his phone has been ringing off the hook with people asking him about what to do next.

"People want to know how to continue whatever momentum we've developed in terms of conservative philosophy and how to advance a conservative agenda. But I'm not sure it can be done," he said, pointing out that together he and Maes collected 48 percent of the vote, which still wasn't enough to beat the Denver mayor.     More -
