Gov.-elect Hickenlooper picks King, Stulp and Urbina for Cabinet

Wednesday, Governor-elect Hickenlooper announced his next set of Cabinet-level appointments: Mike King as Executive Director of Department of Natural Resources, John Stulp as Special Policy Advisor to the Governor for Water, and Dr. Chris Urbina as Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Mike King will remain Executive Director of the Department of Natural Resources.King was appointed to the position by Gov. Bill Ritter in May 2010 after serving as Deputy Director for more than three years.

John Stulp is now the Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture, a position he has held since 2006. In his new role he will continue working with Colorado’s agricultural community, developing policies and solutions to how water is managed statewide.

Dr. Chris Urbina, a native of Pueblo, is now the Director of Denver Public Health at Denver Health, where he is responsible for expanding the reorganization of public health services toward a more community-oriented approach while preserving the outstanding public health clinical services. In his new role, Urbina will also serve as the state’s Chief Medical Officer.
