Polly Baca to run for Colorado Democratic Party Chair

Former Colorado State Sen. Polly Baca has announced that she is officially running to be the next State Chair of the Colorado Democratic Party.

Baca is hoping to replace current party chair Pat Waak, who announced on December 31st that she would not be running for another term.

Baca’s press release highlighted her many accomplishments within the Democratic Party, including being the first Hispanic woman elected to the Colorado state Senate and serving as Vice-Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Baca, who most recently co-chaired Andrew Romanoff’s primary challenge to U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, has criticized Waak and the state party for taking sides in the Senate primary.

The Democratic state central committee will elect statewide officers in early March.
