State Sen. Ted Harvey introduces bill to deregulate cab industry

State Senator Ted Harvey, R-Highlands Ranch, introduced legislation to increase competition in Denver metro taxi cab companies through deregulation.

“Colorado government needs to stop the practice of picking winners and losers in the private sector,” said Harvey. “This bill will create a fair playing field and allow the market to dictate who succeeds and who fails.”

Existing Colorado law places numerous burdensome regulations for any new cab company wishing to service the Denver metro region.

“Any taxi cab company that is operationally and financially fit to compete in the market should be given the opportunity. Increased competition is beneficial to the general public and to our economy,” Harvey concluded.
