Senate bill 77 - the right to use deadly force against an intruder in one’s place of business

Senator Kevin Grantham, R-Canon City, will be presenting Senate bill 77, which extends the right to use deadly force against an intruder in one’s place of business. The bill will be presented tomorrow, Wednesday, February 9th in the Senate State, Veterans & Military Affairs Committee.

“This legislation gives law abiding citizens the legal protections necessary to defend themselves against an intruder when they are in their place of business,” said Senator Grantham. “Currently, Colorado law extends this protection to one’s home, but does not protect someone in their place of business. This needs to change.”

Senate bill 77 has the support of both the Fraternal Order of Police and the County Sheriffs of Colorado. Representative Jon Becker is the sponsor in the Colorado House of Representatives.
