State Sen. Mitchell expresses concern over actions taken during Pinnacol directors confirmation hearing

Wednesday during the Senate confirmation hearing for the board of directors of Pinnacol Assurance, Democrat Senator Lois Tochtrop prevented John Cevette, board appointee and Chief of Staff to the Democrat Senate President, from answering a question posed by Republican Senator Shawn Mitchell.

Senator Mitchell asked Mr. Cevette whether or not he supported Senate President Shaffer’s past proposal to take $500 million from Pinnacol’s reserves. Senator Tochtrop interrupted and told Mr. Cevette “you don’t have to answer Senator Mitchell.”

Following the committee hearing, Senator Mitchell sent a letter to State Senate President Shaffer stating his concern over the actions of Democrat Committee Chair Tochtrop.
