Denver's mail-in ballot-tracing alert system tripped on its debut Wednesday night, when participating voters received messages saying their primary-election ballots were on their way back to be counted even though most had yet to receive them.
The Ballot TRACE system is designed to notify participants by e-mail or text message of almost every move their ballot makes — when the ballot is printed, when it arrives at the main post office, when it is en route to the voter's house and when it is on the return trip to the elections office.
Correction messages were sent out Thursday morning telling participants the ballots were at the beginning of their journey rather than at the end. – More –
