While he has repeatedly touted his business acumen on the campaign trail, Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes' income has fallen below federal poverty guidelines for a family of four at least twice in the past five years, according to information from a Tea Party website and the Maes campaign.
Maes, who released eight years of tax returns to The Constitutionalist Today website, and his wife, listed as a stay-at-home mom to their two minor children, earned $19,202 in 2005 and $11,000 in 2008. The latter is less than what a full-time employee earning the minimum wage of $5.85 at the time would bring home in a year if he took two weeks of unpaid vacation. - More -
