Buck gives Romanoff a birthday surprise

Andrew Romanoff turned 44 on Tuesday and to celebrate, he held a birthday party at his Denver campaign headquarters on Thursday night. Guests were asked to make donations of $44, $144 or $1,044 to help pay off his campaign debt.

While Romanoff was hoping that a lot of supporters would show up for the cause, what he didn’t expect was a visit from GOP Senate candidate Ken Buck.

Buck, who showed up with a big grin on his face, shook hands with Romanoff and said that he had come by because “he had a great deal of respect for him and his leadership.” Buck then proceeded to hand Romanoff a piece of his campaign literature, a Tea Party pin and a birthday check.

Buck was accompanied to the party by his campaign manager John Swartout, who was also bearing a check.

Swartout, who is known for his guerrilla style campaign stunts, was more than likely the brains behind the ‘surprise’ visit.

Romanoff took the entire incident in stride, saying that he was happy to get the donations.

  3. If this was Swartout's idea, it was a great one.
