A proposal to make construction contractors for the city of Denver verify the citizenship of their workers was given initial approval late Monday by the Denver City Council, according to a news report.
The measure, if it passes the council in another vote next week, would make use of the federal E-Verify system mandatory for all city contractors and subcontractors, starting Sept. 1.
The council voted 9-4 in favor of the measure. – More -
