
If Hickenlooper is elected governor and steps down as Denver mayor after Nov. 24, a special election can be avoided and Vidal would serve as interim mayor until the end of Hickenlooper’s mayoral term on July 18, 2011, according to a memo from the Denver city attorney’s office.
George Merritt, spokesman for Hickenlooper’s gubernatorial campaign, said Hickenlooper intends to remain the mayor of Denver through the Nov. 2 election. If he fails in his bid to become governor, Hickenlooper will stay on as Denver mayor and consider seeking a third term in that office. – More -
