Colorado State University-Pueblo President Joseph Garcia will be the running mate of Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper this fall in the Democrat's efforts to win the Governor's Mansion, according to two Democratic Party sources. Garcia has run that campus for the last four years as it has become the fastest growing university in Colorado. The motorcycle-riding, Harvard-trained lawyer prefers on campus to be called "Joe," telling students at his first commencement speech, "I'm an ordinary Joe." Under his leadership, the school has built three new residence halls, a new student recreation center, renovated the library and built a new football and track and field stadium while bringing back the football team to the school. –More -
