GOP Senate candidate Ken Buck is bringing on John Swartout, a former senior policy advisor to Governor Bill Owens and U.S. Senator Wayne Allard, to run his campaign.
Swartout is currently the Executive Director of the Colorado Coalition of Land Trusts and was the former executive director of the Lottery-funded Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Trust.
Previous to his time at GOCO, In his capacity in the Governor’s Office, Swartout was Governor Owens’ liaison to a number of state agencies including the departments of Natural Resources and Agriculture. He worked closely with the U.S. Department of Interior, the Western Governor’s Association and the National Governor’s Association.
Swartout said he believes in Buck because he’s “authentic.”
“If he makes a mistake, he says he made a mistake,” he said. “He’s an authentic person, which is why I think he’s attracting support.”
Swartout, will take over the role of campaign manager from Walt Klein, who will continue to act as General Consultant for the Buck campaign.
