Romanoff: "My opponent is in free fall"

A handful of volunteers were working the phones Wednesday afternoon at Andrew Romanoff headquarters on South Prairie Avenue in Pueblo. They were calling registered Democratic voters to urge them to vote for the former Denver lawmaker in his tense primary battle with Sen. Michael Bennet,

Pueblo County is a Romanoff strong point in the increasingly harsh statewide fight.

Just after 3 p.m., Romanoff arrived at the headquarters, looking like someone engaged in nonstop campaigning in the final week of a close election.

"My opponent is in free fall," he insisted, which is one way to describe the firefight of accusations that have flashed back and forth between the two campaigns.   - More -
