Denver voters defeat space alien proposal

Denver voters have rejected a proposal to establish an alien welcoming commission.

Early results show Denver residents voted 106,776-20,162 against the proposal.

Jeff Peckman ,who proposed the measure, says the government is tracking alien sightings but refuses to make the reports public.

Peckman contends opponents greatly inflated the commission's projected cost.

Peckman previously backed an unsuccessful ordinance requiring the city of Denver to offer stress-reduction measures.
