Gov. Ritter reintroduces the state key to the public

Gov. Bill Ritter unveiled the official Colorado state key in the west foyer of the state Capitol Tuesday.

The key, which is made of Colorado gold and silver and encrusted in precious gems, was the idea of former Gov. Richard Lamm and was designed and created by Philip Stone of Hyde Park Jewelers.

The state key, which has been locked away in the Colorado History Museum for the last 25 years, is now on public display in the Capitol rotunda.
