The Denver Post reports that the newly elected Adams County commissioner, Erik Hansen, has called for an investigation of property assessments to determine whether the county assessor, Gil Reyes, rewarded any campaign contributors with tax breaks.
Hansen said he favors an outside, objective look at assessed values so "we can address whether or not there is an issue" with properties owned by contributors.
The Denver Post reported earlier this week, that Reyes had cut $23 million from the taxable value of buildings owned by Majestic Realty Co whose officers and related companies donated a total of $14,000 to his previous campaigns.
Reyes has denied any wrong doing.
