“We applaud Governor Hickenlooper for recognizing that reliance on one-time federal funds and other clever budgeting maneuvers has left the state budget in a desperate situation. We also congratulate the Governor for acknowledging that economic growth through job creation is the only cure for our budget woes, not tax increases. We can navigate our way through this difficult economic climate, but it will take the General Assembly making the difficult choices that have been long avoided. This will require making structural adjustments in how government operates, fiscal discipline and enacting pro-business growth policies.
Senate Republicans have been working on these measures and we welcome the Governor’s participation in this effort to help turn this economy around.”
