Pueblo City Councilwoman Vera Ortegon won a convincing victory Tuesday night in her Republican primary election for the state Senate District 3 seat vacated by retiring state Sen. Abel Tapia, a Pueblo Democrat.Ortegon received 5,041 votes, or 71 percent, in her contest with Republican newcomer Alex Lucero-Mugatu, who received 1,987 votes or 28 percent.
Tuesday's primary victory means Ortegon now faces Democrat Angela Giron in the general election. – More –
