Two weeks after the election… Weld County has its final vote count

That long whistle you hear across Weld County isn’t coming from the late fall winds bearing snow, cold and gusts.

It’s just Steve Moreno breathing easy again. Maybe he’s even issuing a “whew” or two.

The election results are finally in, and though they are not official yet — he still needs to certify them — Weld County’s clerk and recorder is a little more relaxed.

Believe it or not, the issue holding up the final count — the number of provisional ballots — wasn’t the main thorn in Moreno’s side this election. It was the number of voters turning in their ballots at the last second on Nov. 2.

Come on people. It’s not like those are your taxes or anything.   More -
