Sen. Bennet fulfills a dog of a campaign promise

During the closing month of the Senate campaign, Michael Bennet promised his three daughters a puppy, win or loose.

The Colorado Statesman reports that the family has adopted a 10-month old male dog named Pepper. The dog — likely a Schipperke mix maybe with some Papillon in its ancestry, though no one’s sure — came fully trained from Colorado Cell Dogs, also known as the Prison Trained Dogs Program.

The Cell Dogs program, run at eight prisons across the state by Colorado Correctional Industries, trains shelter and rescue dogs and then sells them.
